ABOUT JANA POCHOP

Jana Pochop (the ‘h’ is still silent) hails from the culturally rich Albuquerque, NM, and she began her vastly diverse career as an independent singer-songwriter when, as a child, she asked for a drum kit and her parents got her a guitar instead.

Her instinct for deep grooves and poignant lyrics are obvious on her most recent musical offerings, "Money & Heart" and “Lightning,” singles released in 2017, and her 2014 EP Throats Are Quarries.

Jana's recordings combine her gifts; lyrics that are as fearless as they are vulnerable, as skeptical as they are hopeful – woven into beautiful and fully fleshed arrangements; they affirm that she’s got one foot firmly planted in the grassy-rootsy folk genre while the other stomps around the pop world like a boss.

Jana has allied with many of the central Texas music makers like Terri Hendrix, Susan Gibson, and Kiya Heartwood. She has gotten a lot of ‘in the field’ experience by traveling with Gibson as agent / tour manager / documentarian over their 8 years of working together, and Jana has toured everywhere from Seattle to Sweden with Gibson.

In 2016, Pochop joined Kiya Heartwood’s band on electric guitar and toured Ireland and the U.K., playing Fringe Festivals in Edinburgh and The Isle of Wight. She performs in Teas and beyond as part of the songwriter pop trio The Homeslippers as well as solo.

JANA POCHOP'S REVIEWS

“Jana Pochop is a dynamic writer, singer and guitar player….With a uniquely original voice and a driving right hand rhythm style, she delivers a powerful solo show. With a totally honest approach, Jana writes lyrics that she had to have lived through”. – Lloyd Maines

“Rare is the recording that captures an artist reaching the top of her game both lyrically and musically at the same time, but that’s what Jana has on her hands here. Her words cut to the heart of inspiration as easily as an inked needle pierces the skin– the former leaving the same indelible mark as the latter. Quite simply, Throats Are Quarries is a brilliant work of art.” – Drew Kennedy

“Pochop proves she doesn’t need a GPS to navigate clear of streets jammed with fellow female singer/songwriters who lack her drive, vision and literary insights.” – Austin inSITE Magazine

Sneak Peak of Drew Moreland’s Upcoming Debut Album | Releases August 1st

https://ift.tt/2ZTaKmS THE ALBUM Drew Moreland has just shown us what country music is supposed to sound like with his upcoming, self-titled, debut album .  You can tell Moreland has taken a few notes from the original outlaws as he sings with grit and conviction in his voice.  He’s able to take his daily struggles and turn them into damn fine country songs.  “Drew’s self-titled album was recorded in the single-wide trailer where he lives with his family in Marion, TX.  This project has a darker/grittier tone and covers some more serious subject matter than previously released singles.” Drew told us that the writing process for the upcoming album was mixed, mostly co-written with Garland Lee Wenner and Matthew Parker .  But, also includes material that Drew wrote while spending time on the road alone: “ Road Stone ”, “ Prayer of an Outlaw ” & “ North Wind ”. The official release date is August 1st , however if you’d like to pre-order Drew’s new album, you will get the

Emily Shirley | Artist Profile

Camp House Concerts Emily Shirley | Artist Profile ABOUT EMILY SHIRLEY Emily Shirley’s brand of thoughtful songwriter pop/rock is as finely tuned and brightly colored as the graphic design projects she works on for her day gig. Courage Up , her 2018 release, now available as a limited edition disc, is a genre-bending hybrid of indie-pop melodies woven over thoughtful, grounded lyrics and continues Shirley’s presence as a vibrant writer who has come into her own in the Austin, Texas scene. Shirley tells life stories through song, revealing interesting characters and settings in a way that the listener still finds relatable.  From the “Dolores,” an exploration into the point of view of an accused killer’s mother (inspired by Netflix’s Making a Murderer documentary series) to “Over the Fence” which perfectly encapsulates the bittersweet innocence of a first friendship, her artistic point of view and skillful sonic experimentation make for a varied and stirring repertoire.
